My Experience with John Harrison / @VegasKillers / VegasKillers.com

My Experience with John Harrison / @VegasKillers / VegasKillers.com

I'm posting a link to a document that I've published that has a list of all the plays he's made since I signed up for his service ($99 for a full year of picks starting 02/23/2011, which has since been bumped to some time in 2012, because he keeps losing guaranteed winners). I hope I don't get in trouble for posting a link, because it's a Google document, and not some link to a website that I'm promoting:

https://spreadsheets0.google.com/pub...EE&output=html

As you can see, at the end of the day yesterday, he was down 42.26 units. By his system, a unit is 2% of your bankroll, or 1/50. So if I were to have kept following his plays as posted, I'd have 7.74 units remaining. Put another way, if you started w/ $1,000, you'd be down to $154.80. Lucky for me, I stopped following his unit count a long time ago and have played everything at 1 unit (which has still cost me a lot of money, but has left me some room to come back).

I don't have any personal grievance with Harrison. He's a handicapper, and I'm sure his goal is not to lose money for his clients. I can't fault someone for trying their best and coming up short. I know a lot of people get emotional about it and want to rant and rave when someone loses them money, but I'm not that way. At the end of the day, I'm the one putting the plays in at my book, so if I'm losing money, it's my fault.

All that being said, I can't recommend his system, which I'm sure seems obvious at this point. It just hasn't shown any value, and as you can see by the spreadsheet I linked, I started with a loss and never got into positive territory. That's right, the amount I set aside for his picks has been in the red the entire time I've followed his picks.

To be fair to his service, I've only been on board for half of the NBA season, and a week of the MLB season. However, I went through a few months of the NCAAB season and he hardly made any picks on college hoops (he recommended Abrams for that). That means he sat at all but one pick on the NCAA Tournament, and that pick was a 5 unit loss that missed covering by about 160% of the spread. He also completely skipped the NHL season. He didn't make a single hockey pick. I'm not sure if he's going to touch the NHL playoffs, but my guess is he will not. The flip side of that is that he still has the NBA playoffs, nearly a full season of MLB and the MLB playoffs, the NFL season, and NCAAF to get back on track. I don't know if he will or not. My hope is that he's correct, and that he can pull 100+ units in the course of a year, because that would put us on track for +150 units over the next 9-10 months. I'm not holding my breath though.

I hope I was able to make this informative and stay out of the normal name-calling/finger-pointing rant that you see when people discuss a handicapper that has lost them money. Thanks for reading. God bless, and good luck.
